The Computer Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and maintaining computer systems and related equipment. This role ensures smooth day-to-day operations, performs routine system checks, troubleshoots issues, and assists users as needed.
Monitor computer systems, networks, and applications to ensure optimal performance.
Operate and maintain mainframe, server, or desktop systems as required.
Perform routine system backups, data entry, and file management tasks.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues and escalate when necessary.
Manage system start-up and shutdown procedures.
Prepare and maintain logs, reports, and documentation of system performance and incidents.
Ensure security protocols are followed to protect data and systems.
Install software updates and run diagnostic tests.
Assist staff with technical issues and provide basic user support.
Coordinate with IT teams for system upgrades, maintenance, and technical resolutions.
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in IT is preferred).
Basic knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and networking.
Familiarity with common office software and hardware.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
Willingness to work in shifts if required.
Experience with system monitoring tools.
Knowledge of data backup and recovery procedures.
Basic programming or scripting skills (optional).
Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
