The Boiler Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the boiler system to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted steam generation for plant operations. The role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory standards.
Operate boilers and auxiliary equipment according to standard operating procedures.
Start, stop, and control boilers, feed water pumps, and fuel systems as per demand.
Monitor boiler parameters such as pressure, temperature, water level, and steam flow.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory regulations, and environmental norms.
Follow permit-to-work systems, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), and emergency procedures.
Report unsafe conditions, abnormal readings, or incidents immediately.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of boilers and auxiliary equipment.
Identify mechanical or operational issues and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
Maintain boiler logs, records, and operational reports.
Monitor fuel levels and quality (coal, oil, gas, or biomass).
Coordinate with stores or suppliers for fuel availability and quality checks.
Optimize fuel consumption and efficiency of boiler operation.
Coordinate with shift engineers, technicians, and other operational staff.
Maintain accurate logs of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and safety checks.
Support audits and inspections by management or regulatory authorities.
Knowledge of boiler operations, steam generation, and auxiliary equipment.
Ability to read and interpret gauges, charts, and control panels.
Awareness of safety procedures, statutory compliance, and emergency protocols.
Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

ITI / Diploma / Certificate in Boiler Operation / Mechanical Engineering
Boiler Operation Certificate as per statutory requirements (e.g., Boiler Attendant License) mandatory
Training in safety and firefighting preferred
