A Quality Control Chemist is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products meet required quality and safety standards. They perform analytical testing, interpret results, and maintain documentation in compliance with regulatory and company standards (such as GMP, GLP, ISO).


Key Responsibilities

1. Analytical Testing

  • Perform chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.

  • Conduct tests using instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, Karl Fischer, and titrators.

  • Carry out wet chemistry techniques like pH determination, titrations, and loss on drying.

2. Documentation and Compliance

  • Record and maintain accurate test data in laboratory notebooks or LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).

  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and test reports.

  • Ensure all laboratory activities comply with GMP, GLP, and SOPs.

3. Method Validation and Calibration

  • Assist in method development, method validation, and instrument qualification.

  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance of analytical instruments.

4. Quality Assurance Support

  • Identify and report non-conformances or out-of-specification (OOS) results.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Collaborate with production, R&D, and QA teams to maintain quality consistency.

5. Safety and Housekeeping

  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and handle chemicals properly.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab work areas.


Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.

  • Experience: 1 - 2 year
