Job Purpose:

 

To operate, monitor, and maintain the Demineralization (DM) water plant ensuring a continuous supply of high-purity water for boilers, turbines, and other process requirements in the steel and power plant. Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and environmental regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Operation & Monitoring:

    • Operate DM plant equipment including filters, ion exchange vessels, pumps, valves, and control panels.

    • Monitor water quality parameters (pH, conductivity, TDS, hardness) and take corrective actions as needed.

    • Maintain daily logs of plant operations, chemical usage, and process parameters.

  2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

    • Perform routine preventive maintenance of pumps, valves, resin beds, and instrumentation.

    • Identify and troubleshoot process or equipment issues to minimize downtime.

    • Coordinate with mechanical/electrical teams for repairs or replacements.

  3. Chemical Handling:

    • Handle and store chemicals (acid, caustic, antiscalants, etc.) safely.

    • Ensure proper dosing in the water treatment process.

  4. Compliance & Safety:

    • Adhere strictly to plant safety rules, environmental regulations, and SOPs.

    • Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe operations around high-pressure and high-temperature systems.

  5. Coordination:

    • Liaise with boiler/turbine/steam plant teams for water quality requirements.

    • Assist in audits, inspections, and quality checks.


Qualifications & Skills:

 

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • 1 5 years experience in DM plants, water treatment, or power plant operations (for junior roles).
