A Turbine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of industrial turbines (steam, gas, or hydro) used in power generation or mechanical drive operations. The role ensures turbines run reliably at required speeds and loads, maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with plant safety and regulatory standards.
Start up, shut down, and continuously operate turbines in accordance with standard procedures and load requirements.
Monitor turbine performance indicators such as temperature, pressure, speed, vibrations, and output using control systems and gauges.
Adjust controls to optimize efficiency, maintain stable operations, and protect equipment from damage.
Notify control room or supervisors during synchronization with electrical systems or other units.
Conduct regular inspections of turbines, auxiliaries, and safety systems to identify abnormalities or wear.
Perform routine tasks like lubrication, checks of bearing, seals, cooling and oil systems to prevent breakdowns.
Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting and repairing issues, and coordinate during planned shutdowns or overhauls.
Maintain housekeeping and safe working conditions around turbine areas.
Maintain accurate logs of turbine operation parameters, start/stop times, maintenance performed, and incidents.
Prepare and submit reports summarizing operational data, anomalies, and corrective actions.
Communicate readings and performance trends to engineers or supervisors for decision making.
