Job Overview

A Table Service Staff member (also known as a waiter or waitress) is responsible for providing excellent dining service to guests. This includes greeting customers, taking orders, serving food and beverages, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in the dining area.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables.

  • Present menus and provide detailed information about menu items, specials, or promotions.

  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen or bar.

  • Serve dishes and drinks in a timely and professional manner.

  • Check back with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any issues promptly.

  • Provide bills, process payments (cash, card, or digital), and thank guests before departure.

Table & Restaurant Maintenance

  • Set up tables with linens, cutlery, glassware, and condiments before service.

  • Clear tables and reset them for the next guests.

  • Keep the dining area clean, tidy, and organized throughout service hours.

  • Assist with cleaning and closing duties at the end of shifts.

Team Coordination

  • Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth service.

  • Communicate special guest requests, allergies, or complaints to the appropriate team members.

  • Support colleagues during busy periods (e.g., helping with orders or serving other tables).
