Job Summary

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen and dining areas, supporting chefs and service staff, and ensuring hygiene and sanitation standards are met. The steward plays an essential role in keeping the food service area organized and assisting in smooth kitchen and restaurant operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes.

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and work areas.

  • Ensure dishwashing and waste disposal areas are organized and hygienic.

  • Collect and dispose of garbage properly, following waste management guidelines.

  • Assist kitchen staff by bringing ingredients, tools, and supplies as needed.

  • Refill water, napkins, and condiments in the service area.

  • Support restaurant staff during service hours by clearing tables and resetting them.

  • Ensure all cleaning supplies and chemicals are used safely and stored properly.

  • Follow food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP standards).

  • Report any maintenance or equipment issues to supervisors promptly.
