The Shift In-Charge Electrical is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and coordinating all electrical operations during a specific shift in an industrial plant. The role ensures safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of electrical systems while adhering to statutory and safety standards.
Supervise the operation of all electrical equipment during the shift, including HT/LT switchgears, transformers, motors, pumps, DG sets, UPS, and plant distribution systems.
Monitor electrical parameters, load distribution, and power quality to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Ensure proper functioning of protective devices and alarms.
Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance during the shift.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and take immediate action to minimize downtime.
Support the maintenance team in repairing or replacing faulty equipment.
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, lockout tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work procedures.
Conduct shift-wise safety inspections and ensure housekeeping of electrical rooms and equipment.
Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to management.
Supervise electricians, technicians, and contractors during the shift.
Allocate tasks and ensure shift staff adhere to SOPs and schedules.
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior staff.
Maintain shift logs, records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance, and safety checks.
Report critical incidents, production interruptions, or abnormal conditions to the electrical supervisor or HOD.
Assist in preparing reports for management review.
Identify recurring electrical issues and suggest improvements to prevent downtime.
Support implementation of energy-saving measures and efficiency initiatives.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (HT/LT, motors, transformers, switchgear).
Troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and maintenance skills.
Awareness of safety regulations and statutory compliance.
Leadership and team coordination skills.
Good communication and reporting ability.
Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering
Certifications in safety or electrical practices preferred
Interview, Any, 1 year experince, B.E/B.Tech.
