The Coal Handling Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining coal handling equipment to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply to the boiler or furnace. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations while complying with safety, environmental, and statutory standards.
Operate coal handling equipment such as conveyors, crushers, feeders, stackers, reclaimers, and screens.
Monitor coal flow, equipment parameters, and plant performance during the shift.
Ensure uninterrupted coal supply to boilers as per demand.
Follow safety procedures, permit-to-work, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) systems.
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, environmental guidelines, and plant SOPs.
Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or incidents immediately.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of coal handling equipment.
Identify mechanical, electrical, or operational issues and coordinate with maintenance teams.
Assist in minor repairs and adjustments to ensure smooth operation.
Ensure proper coal sizing, moisture levels, and consistent feeding to the boiler.
Monitor coal losses, spillage, and dust generation, implementing corrective measures.
Optimize equipment utilization and plant efficiency.
Maintain shift logs, production records, and maintenance reports.
Report operational issues, production statistics, and safety incidents to the shift supervisor or manager.
Support audits, inspections, and compliance documentation.
Coordinate with other operators, supervisors, maintenance, and safety teams.
Assist in training junior operators on plant operations and safety procedures.
Knowledge of coal handling plant equipment and operations.
