The Head of Department Electrical is responsible for planning, execution, operation, and maintenance of all electrical systems within the industrial facility. The role ensures safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical operations while complying with statutory, safety, and quality standards.
Oversee operation and maintenance of HT/LT electrical systems, substations, transformers, switchgears, DG sets, UPS, and power distribution networks.
Ensure uninterrupted power supply and minimize downtime through preventive and predictive maintenance.
Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
Lead electrical engineering activities for new installations, expansions, and modernization projects.
Review and approve electrical designs, layouts, load calculations, and technical specifications.
Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely project completion.
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (Electricity Act, CEA, Factory Act, IEC/IS standards, etc.).
Implement electrical safety policies, lockout tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work systems.
Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Lead, mentor, and manage electrical engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
Plan manpower requirements, shift schedules, and training programs.
Evaluate team performance and promote continuous skill development.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets, CAPEX and OPEX.
Optimize maintenance costs and inventory of electrical spares.
Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate contracts and service agreements.
Maintain electrical drawings, SOPs, maintenance records, and statutory documents.
Prepare MIS reports on power consumption, breakdowns, safety, and project status.
Coordinate with production, mechanical, instrumentation, utilities, and safety departments.
Support plant operations to meet production targets and quality standards.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (HT/LT, protection systems, power quality).
Expertise in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement.
