Job Title: Gaushala Manager

Job Summary

The Gaushala Manager is responsible for the overall management, care, and welfare of cows and other cattle housed in the gaushala. This role includes supervising daily operations, ensuring animal health and hygiene, managing staff and volunteers, maintaining records, and overseeing resources, donations, and facilities in alignment with ethical, cultural, and animal welfare standards.


Key Responsibilities

Animal Care & Welfare

  • Ensure proper feeding, watering, shelter, and daily care of all animals

  • Monitor animal health and arrange veterinary care when required

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of sheds, yards, and surrounding areas

  • Ensure humane treatment and welfare standards at all times

Operations Management

  • Plan and supervise daily gaushala operations

  • Maintain inventory of fodder, medicines, equipment, and supplies

  • Oversee waste management, composting, and by-product utilization (e.g., gomutra, gobar)

Staff & Volunteer Management

  • Supervise caretakers, workers, and volunteers

  • Assign duties and ensure tasks are completed efficiently

  • Provide basic training on animal care and safety practices

Administration & Records

  • Maintain records of animals (number, health, births, deaths)

  • Keep financial records related to expenses, donations, and supplies

  • Prepare periodic reports for trustees, donors, or management committees

Community & Donor Relations

  • Coordinate with donors, visitors, and local authorities

  • Support awareness programs, visits, and religious or cultural activities

  • Ensure transparency and proper use of donations

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with local laws, animal welfare regulations, and gaushala guidelines

  • Maintain safety standards for animals, staff, and visitors


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in livestock, dairy farming, animal husbandry, or gaushala management

  • Basic knowledge of cattle health, feeding, and breeding practices

  • Leadership and staff management skills

  • Ability to maintain records and handle basic accounts

  • Compassionate attitude toward animals

  • Physical ability to work in a rural or farm environment
