A Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems, machinery, or structures. They work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure parts fit and function correctly. Fitters play a key role in manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and plant operations.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical plans.
Assemble mechanical components and equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, pipes, and gear systems.
Install machinery and align components accurately using precision measuring instruments.
Inspect, diagnose, and repair faulty mechanical parts or assemblies.
Replace worn-out components and perform preventive maintenance.
Use hand tools, power tools, and welding or cutting equipment when required.
Mark, cut, drill, grind, or shape metal and other materials to required dimensions.
Fit and assemble structural metal parts following tolerance standards.
Ensure smooth operation by checking alignment and clearances.
Test assembled parts and ensure they meet design and safety specifications.
Follow safety guidelines and use protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean and organized work area and comply with workplace safety standards.
Education:
ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical, Machinist, or related trade.
(Optional) Higher qualifications like an Apprenticeship Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering are an advantage.
Interview, Any, 1+ year experince, Diploma.
