Role Purpose

The Fireman is responsible for maintaining fire safety, responding promptly to fire emergencies, and ensuring the safety of personnel, equipment, and property in an industrial or plant environment. The role includes monitoring fire-fighting systems, conducting inspections, and supporting emergency preparedness activities.


Key Responsibilities

1. Fire Safety & Prevention

  • Monitor and maintain fire-fighting equipment such as extinguishers, hydrants, hoses, sprinklers, and pumps.

  • Conduct regular inspections of fire safety systems and report defects or malfunctions.

  • Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and statutory requirements.

2. Emergency Response

  • Respond immediately to fire alarms or emergencies within the plant premises.

  • Operate fire-fighting equipment and assist in extinguishing fires safely.

  • Evacuate personnel, control fire spread, and minimize damage to property.

3. Safety Drills & Training

  • Conduct fire drills, evacuation exercises, and safety awareness programs for employees.

  • Assist in training staff on fire prevention, emergency response, and proper use of fire-fighting equipment.

  • Maintain records of drills, inspections, and safety activities.

4. Maintenance & Reporting

  • Ensure all fire-fighting equipment is in working condition and replenished as needed.

  • Prepare reports on fire incidents, equipment status, and safety inspections.

  • Coordinate with maintenance and safety teams for repairs, replacements, and safety upgrades.

5. Coordination & Compliance

  • Work closely with safety officers, emergency response teams, and local fire authorities.

  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies, OSHA/fire safety standards, and statutory requirements.

  • Support audits, inspections, and investigations related to fire safety.
