Power Plant Engineer

Job Purpose:

To ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of power plant systems to achieve uninterrupted power generation and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Operation & Monitoring:

• Operate and monitor power plant equipment such as boilers, turbines, generators, transformers, and auxiliaries

• Monitor plant parameters and performance through DCS / SCADA systems

• Ensure safe startup, shutdown, and load management of the power plant

• Identify abnormalities and take corrective actions to prevent breakdowns

Maintenance & Reliability:

• Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance activities

• Coordinate with maintenance teams for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues

• Analyze equipment failures and support root cause analysis

• Ensure availability and reliability of critical plant equipment

Safety & Compliance:

• Follow all safety procedures, permit systems, and statutory regulations

• Ensure compliance with environmental norms related to emissions, effluents, and waste management

• Participate in safety audits, drills, and risk assessments

Performance & Efficiency Improvement:

• Monitor heat rate, efficiency, and auxiliary power consumption

• Support energy optimization and cost reduction initiatives

• Implement improvement projects to enhance plant performance and reliability
