**Job Title: Commis I (Kitchen Staff)**
**Position Summary**
The Commis I is a key member of the kitchen team responsible for preparing high-quality food in accordance with the restaurant s standards. This role involves assisting senior chefs, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring proper food handling, and supporting smooth kitchen operations. The Commis I is expected to have strong basic culinary skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Prepare, cook, and present menu items under the supervision of the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
* Assist in mise-en-place preparation for daily operations.
* Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards consistently.
* Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients (FIFO).
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of workstations according to food safety standards.
* Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
* Assist in receiving and checking food deliveries.
* Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
* Support senior chefs in training junior commis or interns when required.
* Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
**Qualifications & Skills**
* Basic culinary training or certification preferred.
* Minimum 1 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen.
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Willingness to learn and take direction.
* Attention to detail and passion for quality food preparation.
**Physical Requirements**
* Ability to stand for long periods.
* Ability to lift up to 20 25 kg.
