Job Summary

A carpenter constructs, installs, repairs, and maintains structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. They work in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, building frameworks, furniture, doors, and other wooden components according to blueprints and specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, plywood, and other materials.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical plans.

  • Construct frameworks, flooring, door frames, partitions, and stairways.

  • Install windows, doors, cabinets, and other fixtures.

  • Repair and replace damaged wooden structures or components.

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely.

  • Inspect and ensure finished structures meet quality and safety standards.

  • Collaborate with builders, electricians, plumbers, and other construction professionals.

  • Estimate material requirements and costs for projects.

  • Maintain tools and work areas in good condition.
