A Computer Operator is responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining computer systems and peripheral devices, ensuring smooth data processing, accurate record-keeping, and timely generation of reports. This role often involves supporting administrative, IT, or data processing teams in organizations across sectors like education, banking, manufacturing, and government.
Operate computers, servers, and peripheral devices (printers, scanners, UPS systems).
Monitor system performance, check for errors, and troubleshoot basic software or hardware issues.
Start and shut down systems safely and ensure all software applications are running correctly.
Enter, update, and maintain data in databases, ERP systems, or spreadsheets accurately.
Maintain digital and physical records of transactions, reports, and other documentation.
Generate reports, summaries, or statistics as required by supervisors or management.
Operate software applications relevant to the department (MS Office Suite, ERP, payroll, accounting software, or specialized industry software).
Assist in data backup, restoration, and archiving to ensure information security.
Provide basic support to colleagues in using software applications.
